Reviews for Cha Cha A story that has nothing to do with dance
Iggy Touchstone 7/14/10 . chapter 4
Frankly, I love this story.

I love the narrative that seems to be linear, but isn't; I love the subtle mockery of melodrama, the bold strokes of the absurd. I love the dark ruminations of the protagonist- much of it is warped, most of it rings true, and none of it ceases to be entertaining. I have particular praise for a few paragraphs in chap.4 "Pain In The Ass" dealing with how the protagonist looks at the past- not only is it an excellent taster for the beginning of the later flashback, it also resonates with a cynical sort of glee- I don't know how to describe it, but when you intentionally killed the moodiness at exactly the right moment- " Yesterday my mother got stuck in the toilet," I howled my ass off. And I was quite sure, that somewhere, sometime in the past, you did the same too when writing it.

You have an excellent and unique feel for the medium. On a site where half the people take things too seriously to be seriously entertaining, you got the best voice. The gut-busting in-your-face narrative, painted with a sheen of juvenile humor, suggests a subtle self-mockery that must be perceived rather than simply read. Daring. I'm thinking of this as a Chuck Palahniuk-esque narrative that reads like... like, well, nothing I've ever read before. Brilliant deconstruction, but more importantly, excellent reconstruction, because those writers that tear stuff down without putting their own spin up got lots to apologize for.

You are one talented individual, and oh: don't worry about the grammar. There's nothing here that a run through a word processor or something like that wouldn't fix. Instead, keep putting your frankly amazing perspective to work and keep churning out stuff I can adore, okay? Like this one.

I don't know if reading this like I would a crack!fic is what the author meant since otherwise it dissolves into confusion for me.

Really huge confusion. I tried, though. :x The entire story seems to be from one out-of-whack plot device into the next, and flows like muddy water over an eroded slope.
