Truly a wonder of description and tone.

I always think that connecting poetry to anything remotely 'relevent' is difficult. I never do it. But somehow you've managed it with the kind of effortless mix of realism and imagination which I am beginning to think must be characteristic of the way you write. 'Silence is the third member of the room' - wonderful.

You have great detailing here. The images are clear and easy to figure out. It's easier to read because of your imagery and that makes the poem good.
This lacks emotion though. I don't feel much emotion from the persona about the whole experience. Although you mentioned about grief at the end, it somehow came too late. (Maybe, I was a bit detached because the experience is far too distant from my experiences.)
Overall, this a good narrative poem. You pulled off a clear cut experience that directly reflects your personal belief and take on historical events. Good job!
