Nicely done. I particularly like the ninth line where you had your character taunt the beast i.e. inspiration into attacking. This is a subject that all writers I believe can relate to. Sometime it feels like you are never inspired and when you are it is always at an inopportune time.

"I wait and I wait for the strike that won't come."... I think "I wait and wait" would sound better.

I love this because until the ending you don't specify inspiration as the thing (except in the title). It's a great sort of subtle description of it. One that we can almost all relate to as authors.
