One thing I should mention, though: That last part should say "groaned in pain", rather than "grunted", as it feels redundant. Other than that, and some microscopic grammatical errors, this work is fine. I give it a 7/10. Truthfully excited about this story, since I'm a fan of the apocalyptic themes this work represents.
