Very relatable poem! I still believe a set rhythm would improve your work in general, but I enjoy it. And, although I'm not sure you intended it, you had a pretty cool rhythm with a few of the lines-

"my every selfish whim

and the deeper, philosophical meaning

of everything I take in."
