i have to adore your imagery, though, as always. "paper / planes / flying / high / above / skyscrapers / made / of / wood / blocks / and / childlike / wonder" really makes it for me. the regretful tone at the end,

This is lovely.

I don't like the one-word-one-line formatting, I think it makes it too jerky.

But even with that, this works really well, and I guess, it makes you have to do the work to keep up, which is different.
