Whoa. That was amazing. I don't even get the full picture, but the little details- "black, of course," and "a house no longer a home (since she left)." I loved that line especially. It was touching and said so much about the character in so little words. I also like how you described his work as hieroglyphics because as I interpreted it, it was another part of him being lost, confused, and out of it, just like "tying a tie askew" and having no milk in the fridge. Great work. Amazing.
