It's very sad, but also extremely powerful.
One criticism: "But my parents, oh my sweet parents they did everything right." Seems unnecessarily long. You could change it to "But my parents, oh my sweet parents. They did everything right." or "But my parents, oh my sweet parents did everything right."
Other than that, really really great story.
