Yb peace 7/22/12 . chapter 19 I dont understand why so few reviews.. Its really a great story. U just have to finish what u started! |
Anon-e-moose 6/21/12 . chapter 19 Awww, I loved it. I was kind of hooked on the first chapter and your character is so memorable and people can relate to her. I cried when she found her parents- properly sobbed and balled my eyes out; so now my friends think I'm crazy but hey! it was worth it. I lvoe how you ended with Harley's point of view. I wanted to snuggle him because at times he was adorable and at times he was annoying. Emmy- she was just this kid and was, just, brilliant. I need to favourite this now so. Sequel? |
CnConrad 6/11/12 . chapter 8When I first clicked on this story I was expecting some cheesy story. Infact I was expecting to laugh at it. Aliens, zombies and a girl who worries about makeup during the end of the world... However, you have really suprised me. The main character is selfish vain and generally flawed, just like a real person. The story is easy to follow yet has a few twists. And best of all this story is actually good. No over powered characters, no fake 1d characters. |
ReyeReye 6/1/12 . chapter 19Finally finished! This story is being favorited, and there's not much else I can say. It's amazing and severely under appreciated. I really liked Edith as a narrator. She's flawed, which makes her real, but she's still a badass. And even though she likes to think of herself as a bit vain you can't help but love her. There was never a want for something more in this whole story, which is rare :D. The whole time I was reading I was attached to the characters, entertained with the nonstop action, mystified by the causes of the action, and satisfied with the budding romance. I'm looking forward to starting the next bit of the series! Well done! |
ReyeReye 5/25/12 . chapter 4Reading the summary to this story I was a little put off by zombies AND aliens, but I started reading anyway because it was recommended to me as amazing. It definitely is amazing :). I sincerely appreciate the perfection of your grammar and spelling. And your writing style is superb too, it makes the story not only easy to read, but enjoyable to read. Everything is described with so much detail at times it's like I was watching a movie instead of reading, I could picture everything. The main character is interesting. Her sarcasm and superficiality made me laugh a few times. I also really like how she knows just enough from gaming and comics that she's able to survive, even though she might still have a lot to learn (like being comfortable with a gun would be useful lol). The action scenes are intense. Especially when she's being chased by the men in the warehouse. That had my heart pounding even more than when she was running from the Rabid, because let's face it, sometimes people are scarier than monsters. At times like this, I'm suspicious of everyone, so I really hope something good comes out of these military peoples. Anyway, I've never left a review this long... reading on! Can't wait for more :). |
this wild abyss 3/31/12 . chapter 2[From the Review Marathon, link in profile] I like how you keep the action up in this second installment because it keeps your readers interested and engaged. They'll want to see how your narrator deals with the situation she's finding herself in, and I think you showed that here very well. I like your world building here, too, because it keeps your readers centered in the setting and helps them from getting lost. |
this wild abyss 3/31/12 . chapter 1[From the Review Marathon, link in profile] I like how you jumped straight into the action because it caught my attention right away and got me interested. I also like your narrator because her personality is in-your-face, which works here very well. I did think the pacing might have been a little too fast, but it wasn't a major issue. Great opening! |
Socratz87 3/12/12 . chapter 19I feel like this story has everything: humor, horror, romance, violence, adventure - everything. The balance between humor and horror, especially, is what made me stay and read it all. Edith is a crazy-ass character, but also one that I can understand. Her attachment to makeup is hilarious, but also, kind of, an attachment to the world that was. At least that's how I think of it as. It's very easy to relate to her. Not just because I, too, am a videogame nerd, but because you wrote her so well that she seemed just like a real human being. She isn't some super chick who can shoot the wings off a fly from 30 yards away; she hates guns. She doesn't have any survival skills on par with Bear Gryllis. She's just an average chick with a nerdy disposition. I love it. Something that isn't average are the aliens. That bit totally caught me unawares. I was just expecting the run of the mill zombie goodness and then you went and threw in some bad ass aliens. I was hooked. I had to see where it all went. And you didn't disappoint. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, something completely different popped up. The lulls were actually appreciated. I wanted the characters to be able to rest. It's weird how immersed I got into this. I didn't want to stop. I had to force myself to go to bed and then when I got up, almost immediately, I started reading again. I think it was the first chapter when Edith was running for dear life from the infected, I swear my heart was pounding. I could imagine the scene perfectly. It was awesome. And when she climbed up the aisles I couldn't help but cheer. I hate it when characters in movies or games don't use any common sense. Obviously climbing to a higher area has it's advantages in a alien/zombie apocalypse. This is so long winded haha. I apologize. I'll cut it short. Sandy. She is such a badass. She reminds me of femShep from Mass Effect. But when she and Tony had to open fire on the civilians I seriously wanted to cry (and that's not something I do when I read). I was so pissed at them. I just couldn't believe it. Another part that really got me was when Edith was trapped in that pantry. That was really intriguing to me and I found myself wishing she had had her fubar or something. Finding out that she kicked that guy's ass like that was really surprising. Kind of unsettling too. Anyways, this story was awesome. Surface Tension was a good followup and I'm super freaking excited to see what's coming up next. |
zipscool 2/25/12 . chapter 19Fantastic. Utterly fantastic. Grammar is spot on, as is structure. The dialogue is pretty well done and overall I thought this was well worth reading. The character of Edith was - in comparison to pretty much every story concerning the undead I've ever read on this site - brilliantly thought out. She's flawed, not a little bit of a bitch, and entirely believable for those reasons and I lapped up every bit of banter between her and Harley - particularly following her 'rejection' of him as it were. I also like how you handled the withdrawal of the threat, with the infected starving to death and the aliens packing their bags and leaving. Most stories in the genre would have stumbled and faltered with the removal of (most of) the threat but this kept its pace. Very well done. The only thing I didn't like was that the ending in C19 felt less like an ending and more of an interlude; a pause, and not the conclusion of a story. Still, solid gold stuff. Hats off to you. |
lily 1/30/12 . chapter 15 nooo! this chapter is so sad, but still good as always. |
