Very touching piece. The last line sounds like this would be a great prologue into a story about the boy and what he did in his life. I think that could be a great story. A couple little typos, but otherwise well written. I enjoyed it.

Ending was a bit of a surprise, but the story is simple but pretty good. The ending could be built up more, and I know because it has been my problem as well. Overall, the story's quite solid. Hope you can also look over my new work. :)
