seventhswan 5/15/12 . chapter 15I almost combusted when Eiryu was examining Rey's eyes. And then again when Rey said he didn't mind Eiryu touching him. YES! Let the cuddling commence! Oh man, I can't wait for the next chapter, now! What is Asayaz (I have no clue how to spell his name, ugh) going to do? If he hurts Rey, I will pout at the computer screen until Eiryu turns up to save the day. I hope Eva helps Rey figure things out. ((sigh)) this was a great chapter. I can't wait for more! |
seventhswan 5/15/12 . chapter 14Oh man, something about a boy telling another boy to "come here" always gets me. And I love travel where one person has to hold on to the other. LOVE IT. So much happened in this chapter! I want to know more about Resol, and also about these examinations everybody keeps talking about. And also about Eiryu's parents! Also, a sleepy and kind of subdued Rey is my favorite thing. I'm glad he's at least trying to give Eiryu a chance, because a sad Eiryu is my least favorite thing. haha. |
seventhswan 5/15/12 . chapter 13Oh my gosh. Okay, whoa, This chapter was a big reveal chapter! I don't like Eva either. Mostly because I'm a bitch and I don't want her getting in the way of Rey and Eiryu getting it on, and I know Rey has a thing for her. But NOW! Oh man, who is this Ayasaz guy? Also, I can't wait to learn more about what Eiryu's doing in the lab. I'm glad Rey softened on him a bit, but I'm also glad he doesn't let Eiryu tell him who can and can't be his friend, even though I'd prefer it if he didn't like Eva either (ugh, run-on, much?) Okay, I'm too excited to read more to say anything else. Great chapter! |
seventhswan 5/15/12 . chapter 12awe! That scene where Eiryu was all sad that Rey might not like him broke my heart! I understand Rey's hesitance to fully accept Eiryu into his business, but I still can't help but feeling bad for Eiryu. Also, ooooh, what is this conversation going to be about? ONWARDS! |
seventhswan 5/15/12 . chapter 11I haven't read/seen those movies either...er...((goes to look up summaries)) Anyway, this chapter was adorable. I love Isaac. A lot. I also love this: "I think rabbits are nice." Oh Eiryu! Also, honeybun what is wrong that you have to not be alone? Also, goddamnit, Rey, I'm so ready for you to be cuddly with Eiryu, but I know that would be all out of character what with your teenage-boy ways. ugh. Also, I am real curious about Rey's grandpa. He seems like he's going to be really important. Oh! And carpal tunnel bites, yo! I'm sorry that you have it. I know I have a hard enough time at the end of the semester without any physical pain, so, more power to you for sticking it out! |
CalliScribbles 5/15/12 . chapter 15Eva's got a mage... (I think I missed something...) |
Rogue Energizer Bunny 5/14/12 . chapter 15I NEEDS MORE CHAPTERS. UPDATE SOON. -REB |
fuzzipueo 5/12/12 . chapter 11Actually referring to chapter 14: I'll agree with one of the other reviewers in that Rey's attitude can't last forever, even as I understand it. (As I remember being one - being a teenager was "all about me" and being hungry, so the fact that he's a bit self-centered isn't that surprising.) However, it might help a lot if he were to meet someone with a very different perspective on what it means to be a familiar - someone who's been with his/her wizard for many years and may have had similar issues with the whole situation. The resulting discussion could be very interesting. Eiryu isn't handling things very well at all and could use a bit of help from someone with more experience than himself. Does he have a mentor? Also, I've had a thought about just what that other tattoo on Rey's back symbolizes. I think I'll wait a bit more before I make my next guess though... |
CalliScribbles 5/11/12 . chapter 14"Don't worry Rey, my parents probably don't approve but we're going to avoid them anyway." Well, hey! We showed up to the mage city (and I dunno what it looks like...) and plot happens. |
Rogue Energizer Bunny 5/11/12 . chapter 14Holy shit, did I forget to review the last chapter? I did, didn't I, when I specifically said I would. I read it and then wandered off. *facepalm* PM me when I do that... This is my favorite chapter, with the characterization of Eiryu and whatnot. Him and Rey are kinda cute together. -REB |
plumblossom 5/11/12 . chapter 14Option (b): something happened to the poor reviewer: lots of extra work, the minute after I stopped being hideously ill. I really don't have it in me to say much online. Still reading, still enjoying. I think Eiryu is missing a lot more opportunities to explain things to Rey, even with the constraints of his situation, but I think it's story-realistic: Eiryu's not a magical creature, he's a kid with magical skills, so it's to be expected he doesn't necessarily manage everything smoothly. Also, since I believe he's lost more than one familiar in traumatic ways (that is, almost-but-not-quite preventible horrible death ways), I can believe that he's still reeling, really. Thank you for no robes. |
Whettle 5/11/12 . chapter 14Rey is seriously starting to get on my nerves. I know he's upset that his life has changed so much, but he doesn't even seem interested in anything Eiryu tells him or shows him. If it was me I would be excited to learn about this whole new world, but he treats it like something commonplace. Gah! He's also pretty self-centered, it bugs me that he only cares about when he'll get to eat or go to sleep. It doesn't seem like he cares about Eiryu's feelings at all. Hopefully something will cause his attitude to change... |
fuzzipueo 5/11/12 . chapter 14It's a good long chapter, though I wish you'd spend just a bit more time on description! And it would have been nice to know more about Eiryu's friend. Quibble: ' "I wouldn't call one of your teachers by their first name without saying Mister, would I?" "Yeah, but…'Master' is kind of different than 'Mister'," Rey said. "No, it's not. Even in your culture, 'Master' is the formal way of referring to an underage male. And he's my teacher. It's what you call him." ' Master is not the way to refer to an underage male. It usually denotes honoring of an older male's dominance, either in age or in a trade, like the real world example of Norm Abram (This Old House/New Yankee Workshop on PBS) who is a master carpenter and in times past could have been addressed as Master Abram since he's a master of his craft. This is also true of wizards/harpers/weavers/masons/plumbers/etc. On the dark side, of course, a master is one who owns and controls one or more slaves. I agree with Rey on the differences between the meaning of 'Master' and 'Mister/Mr,' for all that Eiryu is technically correct. |
fuzzipueo 5/8/12 . chapter 13Yay Rey! You go guy. I was beginning to think he'd just roll over and let Eiryu control his life. Despite their last conversation, which to be honest, was less than satisfying on either side, I don't think they've really worked out their differences at all, much to Eiryu's chagrin. |
Rogue Energizer Bunny 5/7/12 . chapter 12Good development of relationship here. I like this chapter. I'll put this on alert so I can review the next one, K? -REB |
