I'm a little bit confused. I thought the narrator had night vision and the 'creeper' could read minds. Now the narrator is looking through others thoughts.

For a first chapter I think you need more. Not enough here to catch my interest. Maybe some more description with the dialogue. I want to feel like I'm in the room watching this scene. Keep going!
