Sometimes I will read something and it will hit me just like that. This poem did this to me. I think maybe - looking away from the fact that it is very well written - it's because I can relate it very closely to an event in my own life. It's not a good feeling I get from reading this poem, but poetry should also be able to inspire sadness and regret - this poem did just that to me.
