Hmm, very interesting. I'm very partial to the brief lines and the stream-of-consciousness way in which you wrote this. "We lit up like rockets," in particular, is a nice, vivid image. I'm not totally sure what you mean by the last line but I think it may have something to do with how, after a victory, we eventually become complacent with the way things are and forget the hardships we've had to face. I could be wrong, but that's the way I interpret it. :)

I like this a lot! Very intriguing. Mind explaining the line "then one day we forgot" that confused me a bit.
