Reviews for Religious Questionnaire
Fairyfinder 4/30/13 . chapter 4
Hey there! I think it's cool that you are trying to figure out more about religions. I would like to point out that according to the Bible Christianity isn't a religion. It is actually a friendship with God. God loves EVERYONE on earth no matter what they do and wants to have a relationship with all of His children (everybody in the world). The thing is, God is perfect. Humans are obviously imperfect. God cannot be around imperfection, it's like when you try to push the two northern ends of a magnet together, it doesn't work. So in order to be with us He sent His only son to die the most terrible death of crucifixion. When Jesus died he was paying for everyone's sins. The people before the crucifixion, the Jews, sacraficed lambs to represent that in order for us to be with God someone had to die. So anyone before the crucifixion who believed in God, and knew Him to be the one true god got to go to heaven. The Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, Babalonians, and anyone else with idols went to Hell. Jesus died for everyone at his current time and in the future to save them from eternal seperation from God. The lambs before this were only an example. No one but Jesus can save every single person on this earth from going to Hell, but if you want to go to heaven it is not simply enough to believe in God or that Jesus died for your sins. You must ask Him to forgive you and to live in your heart. I have been very lucky to grow up in a Christian home and have had many opprotunities to ask the Lord into my heart. The Great Comission (Matthew 28:18-20) tells those of us who already know the good news that Christ died for our sins to go and tell others. I hope this has been helpful to you and if you want to ask me anything - ANYTHING- about Jesus, God, Christianity or anything else please feel free to PM me. I will set my school work aside and answer to the best of my abilities. God is the most important thing in the universe and I would love to share as much as possible with you or anyone else who wants to know about Him. I wish you good luck in your quest to find out more about different religions. If you need to know anything about Christianity I'm your girl. :)
Roninarnia 3/25/13 . chapter 8
Lilith isn't in the Bible. She actually is a figure in Hebrew Mythology and according to legend she was turned into a blood sucking monster for refusing to submit to Adam.
shivadf125 3/25/13 . chapter 8
I'm not Muslim, Christian, or Jewish, but I do know a lot of mythology and religion.

There are a few conflicting details about Lilith. I'll give you three variations of her story.

1: Lilith was created before Adam, but refused to listen to God, so he sent her away. This is, as far as I know, what the Gnostics believed.

2: Lilith was created as a companion for Adam, but she refused to obey him, because she was made of the same material he was made from (earth, I guess). God then sent her away or made her a demon. I think this is both the Jewish and Christian belief.

3: Same as 2, except she also becomes a child-eating demon and/or Asmodeus's wife, and they have lots of demon children together.

I have my own views on Lilith, but these are the most common stories you'll hear about.
Balloon in the Sky 1/3/13 . chapter 1
I saw the title of this story/essay, and was curious. I have some respect for you. Most people from religions push the other religions away. (This includes me {I'm Christian} and I don not mean to offend you in any way, if I did.) You, on the other hand, are trying to learn about the other religions across the world. I thank you for your courtesy, and for being respectfu. I'm looking forward to see what you've learned in your updates.
Lord of the Fries 11/24/12 . chapter 6
Athiesm cannot be a religion, just a religious belief, I'd say. prefix "a" meaning "lack of", "theism" meaning belief in supernatural or holy deity (ies) of some kind. If you go on reddit and see many athiest' peoples' reactions towards athiems being called a religion, they get pretty angry haha :D

Honestly I thought this was going to be pretty boring, but this is actually really interesting to read! You have an open look on religions and I love to read your writing :D
Are you just going to be doing the major religions of the world or will you talk about the smaller ones like Shinto and Taoism too?
Guest 11/21/12 . chapter 6
Atheism might be something like an "informal" religion. I mean, atheism concerns itself with all the things other religions concern themselves with - god, life, afterlife, and all that - it's just that they chose an entirely different standpoint. And unlike the other religions, atheism has no traditions or doctrines or anything.

Or maybe atheism is instead a philosphy, or a developing religion, or just a hunk of thought still in the making. But, I think I really need to know this, what's religion in the first place?
Guest 11/19/12 . chapter 4
Jesus died for all sins of all mankind - sins of omission, omission, thought, spoken and done sins and original sins. Some view Jesus as an angel, which the Bible does not agree with.
The messianic Jews call themselves Jews because Jesus' disciples were Jews, they are Christians though.
Answer 11/19/12 . chapter 3
God's reason for having a son was to wash away all the sins of mankind.
Jesus is God incarnate, he is simply God in human form.
The Holy Spirit is the part of God that forgives sins.
Kilroy 11/7/12 . chapter 5
I do not know if there are other sacred texts besides the Torah in Judaism. The Torah has only five books, but the Bible has far more than that in the Old Testament although it's just the Torah's five books separated into multiple books. Still, the Old Testament of the Christian Bible has variations from the Torah. Also, the Christian scriptures have the New Testament detailing Jesus's first coming and the prophecy of his second coming; While, the Torah does not have a New Testament.

Hope this helps! :D
danceforevergirl 11/6/12 . chapter 4
For what sins did Jesus die for?

He died for all sins commited in the past and future. He took the ultimate punishment so that way everybody else could just repent and be forgiven instead of facing his fate. Other denominations view Jesus a bit differently, and take things from the bible differently, but they all (as of my knowledge) believe Jesus was the Son of God, among other things.
danceforevergirl 11/6/12 . chapter 3
How can three different people be the same?

Well, the Holy Spirit isn't really a person, per-se, but a figure, a spirit. To me, I picture that spirit being God's. Jesus was God's son, but he was a part of him as well. This is mainly a faith thing.

What does the Bible say about God's reason for having a son?

Jesus wasn't God's physical son. He was given to Mary and Joseph by means of her giving birth to him. You can't think of this as his being a fetus when given to Mary. He grew inside of her like any other baby. It isn't really physical. Jesus was all human, but he had a piece of God inside of him, hence him being the son of God. He had a connection and was placed on Earth for one purpose. To die for everyone's sins. His body or human part, was ascended into Heaven, and what happened after is uncertain. His body isn't on Earth though. It has been proven that he existed, and that he taught and preached.

What is the significance of the Holy Spirit in the Trinity?

Like I said, to me the Holy Spirit is the spirit of God. So technically, it is him. It's mentioned in the Bible that the spirit entered a disciple as a blue flame. So, it's more of a how you see it thing. I see it as, well, nothingness inside God, that when entering others, appears as a blue flame, or atleast when Jesus was alive. Now,when you accept Jesus into your heart, he just is there. The Holy Spirit becomes a part of you. It's not a physical thing, but you just feel better and more pure, even though nothing physical happened.

Sorry if I'm wrong on anything. I just tried to help and explain what I believe. A lot of things in Christianity are based on faith and just the way you picture things. I say again, not everything is physical. :)

Hope I helped!
Kilroy.III 9/20/12 . chapter 4
For what sins did Jesus die for? Did Jesus die for the sins made before his death and resurrection? Do Christian sects view Jesus differently, or is it all the same view?

I'll try answer to my understanding. (1)He did die for original sin, but also all the sins of mankind/humanity in the future. So, as long as you truly repent or have done no wrong you will be accepted by God. (2) Yes, different dominations view Jesus differently, although I'm unsure how.

(Hope I helped)

Also, the film doesn't represent any facet of decent peoples or religion. I wish that bigoted people would just shut up and let religion be for peace, not their propaganda tool. D:
Starry Flight 9/19/12 . chapter 3
I'm a Christian, but whenever I hear about the Holy Spirit, it's described as a bright light. Hmmm... I need to look into that. But, if you can find a Bible anywhere then read Revelations, it has wonderful descriptions of Heaven. Jesus will save you, PM me to find out how. ( This not meant to be offensive in any way.)
Miko56 9/9/12 . chapter 3
Well most people(especially Atheists)has been asking that question, but as once a Christian I tell you this,
The holy trinity isn't telling that there are three Gods in Christianity but rather they Homogenous they are one, so that's Catholics have been calling it 'Holy Trinity one God'
I'm a Deist but I'm once a Christian
Mem The Great 8/30/12 . chapter 3
I don't think any human could rightly answer the first question, the best explanation I heard compared the Trinity to a clover; three leaves, one plant. It's one of the great mysteries. Speaking of which, you also touched upon another mystery of faith in the second question, too. Jesus isn't "part human-part God," He is FULLY human and FULLY God. Yes, Mary is regarded as the Mother of God, and that's because she willingly carried and raised Jesus so He could fulfill His mission on earth. He has also existed as long as the other parts of the trinity, which means that he has always existed and always will exist (and, what do you know, another mystery!).

Now for the third question. The Holy Spirit is believed to be of the same nature as God the Father, but He has several symbols that are typically used to represent Him. The most commonly used ones are fire and a dove. The Bible mentions the Holy Spirit coming down upon people several times in the New Testament, like on Pentecost or Jesus' baptism. I'd research it, though, I'm sure there are things that I'm missing.
