Beautiful, beautiful! I loved this! But why stop there? What happens to the girl and the scarecrow? Do they beat the townspeople and their ignorance? Do they leave? I want more please!

This was an enjoying story to read, however I have two suggestions. “He was a stranger, someone with a weird magic and a weirder form.” Here you used the word weird twice; though nothing is wrong with this I think that it may have been smoother to use another.
I think that this story could have been lengthened. It was good, but it ended rather quickly. I do like the story and I like your concept.
