I wonder about Matt wondering about 'their motives'. I wouldn't exactly find a mother and daughter suspicious. Curious thought. Maybe you have a reason for it though.
"After a moment, Mat responded..." 'Matt' has two t's.
"...Mat sounded relieved..." Same thing.
"...a-buzzing around and bother kind souls." My guess is that you mean 'bothering'.
Olive's husband's alternate is creepy! And so is his speech! It's unnerving.
In general, I think the whole 'two personalities' is a really good idea, and pills seems like a logical way to suppress the second. I have to wonder if a second personality is always bad though; it could simply be... different. I think it would be fun to come up with characters like that! Anyway, nicely done!

I like this chapter even more than the first! I lpve the entire idea of alternates. This was thrilling, and the James' alternate is creepy!
