I like the premise of your piece. It reminds me of 'Lords of Dogtown' for some reason. I guess since it takes place in the 70s and involves surfing. Overall I'm enjoying it so far.

Your writing is pretty clear, not getting lost or skipping ahead. Though you could use a little more show than tell in the descriptions of things. There's parts where you shine through, with good metaphor. However, other parts feel too 'stated'. The Australian accent comes through good on the dialogue, not feeling distracted by it at all; it really helps with getting a feel for the setting.
