Listen, I've read both your stories, and you're writing could use a bit of improvement, maybe an expansion of vocabulary - along with the usage of connotation for a more 'story-like' effect.
But what you need to work on is your storyline and character development, you need to add a twist, create connections and generate drama through situations that aren't life-or-death. You need to layer your story with intricacy, something that makes it different from regular ones.
I also suggest that you look in a thesaurus, it'd be helpful with the vocabulary. Well, that's all.
