It's a lovely bit of writing, nicely and emotively written :P and you actually get a feel for the guy, which is nice for a short piece. Well Done! :)

I like stuff like this, for some reason, but I cannot write any.

In such a short space you've managed to give this character a past and make him completely human despite being a Nazi. Well done. I would have appreciated it if you gave the Jewish kid that he knew a name, though.
