As stated in the 1st chapter, Sam was 4 years old. In this chapter, they saw each other 12 years later. You also wrote that Sam was in college. So just how many more years was Kyle older than Sam?

Does it mean that Sam gets legs when he is on dry land?

i'd like to point out though, that in your description you say 'mermaid'. if he is a guy it should be 'merman'. maid is a term for a woman, or girl. It would also make it a little more obvious that he story is slash.

Well, I really like this story. I find it cute how curious Sam is, and his reactions to everything are very similar to mine. I also imagine that Sam would be a really attractive boy. It'd be amazing to see such radiant red hair. I think you do a good job writing the characters, and the story in itself! I love Kyle's character, though. He's very chill and seems to be kind of protective over Sam, which I find very cute. I will admit that his character doesn't have a lot of uniqueness, but we're just starting! We'll find out his flaws, quirks, and pet peeves as we go on! I was kind of hoping that Sam would be jealous of Mara, but I was denied that enjoyment, "pout."

Any suggestions to help fix the story... I really don't have that much to say. Your writing seems slightly elementary (I hope that didn't sound rude!) but I think that's because of how fluffy and innocent this story is. But I love the innocence; it's a breath of fresh air from so many other stories.
