Nice chapter. I like how you gave a bit of Rowena was as a human just a little before the outbreak.

The two characters introduced seem quite cool. I wanna know whats gonna happen next, this is great!

Liked the banter between the sisters. The chapter was short and brief, and I can see you are building on the foundations you have layed in the previous chapter.

One slight thing- maybe more description of the characters and their surroundings. A brief indicator of physical attributes perhaps. For example: "I brushed a strand of auburn hair out of my pale blue eyes." or "The lab coat hung loosly off his tall, gaunt frame. He looked paler than normal in the florecent lights boucning from the off green walls."

Just a suggestion.

Hm. It certainly seems like you're going down the road less traveled here...But I, too, want to know: what DOES one eat when you can't have "meat vegetables or fruit"?!

...Photosynthesize sunlight? Plant zombies...
Can't wait for it! I do wish there was more detail to other characters besides the main one, though. But this IS just the beginning so I'll let it slide.
