Sad chapter :'( But really good :D

I feel as though you need to elaborate more on why those specific two were chosen.
If it were real life the government wouldn't send two random teenagers back in time to stop a major event. They'd pick people suited to the task.
(In saying that I've only read the first two chapters so you might go into more detail later)
But say for example she was getting the scholarship for being an expert in American history, then she'd be suited towards the task, plus it lets the readers get to know the characters a little better- it never hurts to know a little bit about the main, plus it adds to the imagery of the story. The love interest on the other hand can remain as sexy and mysterious as one so desires ;)
