You've peeked my interest. You have a very natural flow to your work with very few parts that come across as awkward. The first few paragraphs come across almost like watching an old fashioned cultural documentary and I think it'd be really cool to have something like that, though I think you could do without the character back story? Working with the cultural video idea maybe you can put in some information about his home planet. Mind you that's just my oppinion. xD
