Short but well worded and thought-provoking. Personally I do not agree though with the message of the poem. For instance I don't believe that history teaches us really anything about any of us individually, as we all walk through life as individually unique human beings. At interesting anecdote at best, but when concerned about its effect on our lives I believe that all historical events are essentially trivial because the one thing that can change the world are individual acts happening now, regardless of any historical path. While the latter can effectively prohibit us to see our potential to change, I believe this is essentially a mental illusion, blocking the vision we need to truly become ourselves in this world.
I could go on and on about this, but I think it's best if I'll leave it here :-)
