This is really intriguing so far. I like the atmosphere, the history and the depth - it shows that you've thought about it. I'm an aspiring author too so I know what it feels like to badly want a story to be published. However I have one tip for you - try to use less casual language such as "stuff like that".
As for now, this is definitely going in my favourite's list :)
