Unless it affects us on a personal level or unless we can make money out of it (lots of it!), we will never as a society start to clean it up and it will remain in the hands of the few individuals truly recognizing our collective and individual responsibilities. It's in our nature (or at least that's what society has made us into) not to be concerned too much about anything far beyond our the borders of ourselves, even though we have at the same the innate capacity to become so much more than just ignorant, indifferent egoists. Very sad and bad for us, but then again, we're just a hiccup for the Earth. Nicely written poem though!
