I don't read poetry much, but the title caught my attention, and then the summary intrigued me, so I ventured cautiously in.
Ah.
Such a picture. The nature of "greatness"-- alone in vision and perception, an oddity.
Beautifully done-- I could imagine him, standing up there "high above the storm" and looking down.
Of course he would enjoy it at first, marvelling at the extent of what he could see ... until he saw what he did not wish to.
"And when he saw the other things, the dark things ..."
And the bitter defeat in the end-- stumbling down from his pedestal, down to their level, and still they won't listen to his warnings.
"They pretended he was still up there, above them all..."
Chilling and all too accurate. A powerful, haunting piece. You truly have an impressive grasp of humanity.
