Ojibwe 3/19/13 . chapter 1 this isn't "bordering racism" this is racism |
ndn eyes 11/3/10 . chapter 1 I don't know. Ask your government! |
wordpainter 4/9/04 . chapter 1 Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with you on the whole "are we assholes for invading the continent of North America"... argument can be made that distrupting the natural inhabitants' culture and way of life did cause a lot of them to die and to suffer, but (and I'm not expert on this) the Naitive Americans do have it a lot better than some cultures. Take Aboriginals in Australia: they have a higher risk of health problems such as diabetes, most of the homeless people in this country are black, years ago our ancestors got them addicted to liquor and they haven't laid off it since, they're often unemployed, they have lots of children who go to high schools get involved in drinking, drugs and underage sex and get pregnant. (Although admittedly that is quite a racist generalisation.) Don't get me wrong, there are tonnes of successful aboriginals but the fact remains that the number of winos per thousands populace in the "black" community is greater than in the Europeans or "white" community. (Although I maintain that their alcholism now is our fault of years past). Now there you have a people screwed over by the people who invaded them. Get this, over 200 years since Australia was colonised and we still haven't made peace with the locals. My ancestors were dumbfucks. I say, if you want to know how to properly invade a country yet preserve its natural population, talk to the kiwis, they have it down pat. The Maori culture is alive and well and New Zealand is a beautiful little country run by a complete left wing environmentalist. |
pax driver 10/23/03 . chapter 1Raeveyena, i did nothing wrong, there's nothing for me to admit. native americans are lucky europeans DID come relatively peacefully. do you have any idea of what usually happens to a race when their land is invaded? i can tell you they're usually not given benefits, education and insurance for the next 25 generations raised in that country. pull your head out of your ass. |
The Crazy Cricket 7/5/03 . chapter 1Yeah, I sometimes feel the same way. But we really were major jerks to the Native Americans, and most of them are still stuck on reservations plagued with alcoholism and poverty. So their are definitely two sides to that. Great poem though. |
Faded Wings Of Light 6/25/03 . chapter 1 Uh..I don't think anyone can take land from others. That's just my opinion... |
Tino's Chic 10/31/02 . chapter 1 Yeah, obviously not everyone's like this. But those who are...nobody can win, if society stays like it is, I reckon. |
Raeveyena 7/21/02 . chapter 1fu** you!you took our friggin land when you coulda just stayed in your own country! or you could have just come peacefully! Anyway...even if you cant change that, you could at least admit you did something wrong? we had a chance to go back? you had a chance to go back! |
CrimsonCat 6/2/02 . chapter 1I can't say that I agree with what you're saying, but it is well said. Powerful words, woven together expertly. Well done. Dai stiho CrimsonCat |
XxXidiosyncraticXxX 5/13/02 . chapter 1You've brought some views across here that a lot of people would agree with, but you are bordering on racism. Sure, native inhabitants of countries have equal rights, but European settlement HAS left them at a disadvantage. It is just plain wrong to say that their race is weaker and they do have something to whine about. But, no, this is not your fault. Nobody is saying it is, really, only that bad stuff has happened and has to be acknowledged. |
