Vixen 2002-05-26 . chapter 1 I went looking on the internet for a picture that compliments this poem. Found this one (http://www.glue.umd.edu/~cradle/hopper.jpg), and I noticed something: in the painting the girl really is beautiful, pale skin, nice clothes, pouty little lips; but she's so down on herself that its hard for her true personality to really shine through. It also seems there's a lot going on under the surface, to quote a cliche "Still rivers run deep". You carried this theme through the poem, and it shows that you really understand the emotions portrayed in the painting. Also found this page, where another poet wrote a different poem using the same painting: (www.geocities.com/thomasdowning2001/Auto.htm) |
