Just my own made-up-ness. I had begun with even freer verse than this, with no rhythym as well as no rhyme, but I wanted it to have some sort of flow, and so I set it in parts and kept the beats of each line even. It took some re-wording and re-thinking and re-writing, but isn't that what writing is, anyway?

Absolutely beautiful. I've read this before and I still adore it. I don't read a great deal of poetry, so I'm sorry if my question is a silly one, but did you use a particular form (i.e. blank verse) to write this, or did you just make it up yourself? Whatever you did, it's haunting. I find it especially lovely as I'm obsessed with my piano myself.

Amen. The literal tranlation being, "it is true," but you can take to mean "I believe," which is the generally acccepted version.

My. My my my my. Don't know what else to say. My. (interesting detail you just made me remember- did you know Beethoven sometimes took the legs off his pianos? So he could 'hear' them through the floor. And often he would have more than one, because people simply gave them to him).
