Author:

Punk, goth, prep, skater, nerd, geek, fairy, reject.... the rest of 'em. WE've all heard these labels. And even one's you think might be good can hurt people. This is about how I feel about labels.

Skater, punk, goth, prep,

The girl with ADD.

Stupid inferences

you make.

Put a label on me

like the one on the bottle

of the pills I take.

Define me now

box me in.

Give me a stupid little label

based on what you think you know.

Looking at me

I'm a prep.

Listen to what others say

I'm the girl with A.D.D.

Observe a little more

I'm a rebellious, depressed little girl.

Look closely

and you'll see the truth.

I'm indefinable

indescribable.

A bit of everything you can think of

and something that don't have words.

Tease me about how I think

how I look.

Whatever

just don't label me.

'Cause believe me

if you think that's me

it's not.
