Author's Note: This is a true story, I repeat, TRUE STORY! This really happened to three of my friends and I! (Of course, all the dialogues aren't just right!) Anyway, some of the names are changed for safety reasons! It gets more interesting as it goes along, I promise!
Day 1: Have you ever had that feeling that someone wasn't quite what they seemed? Well, that's what happened to three of my friends and I. This is how it all started:
"So, you came to try out too?" I asked Andrea Sanders as she walked up to me at the school.
"Yeah! I just hope I don't get assistant director this year again!" she said with a sigh.
It was January 10th, and we were at the Talisi High School auditioning for a play. The play was called Little Red Riding Hood, a play that we all know! Anyway, all the people who were auditioning gathered in a big circle around the two directors. The Missoula Children's Theatre was sponsoring our play. Every year, they come to Talisi to help with the play, and every year there are new directors. Our past directors were okay, except the fact that one couldn't sing, and the other was a little bit of a weirdo! Well, this year, a girl in all black and purple approached us, with a guy with a fuzzy, brown beard. "What a total Goth!" I whispered to Andrea.
"I know!" she responded.
The guy looked pretty normal, until we saw him smile. Andrea and I gasped as we saw two big fangs protruding from his upper front gums. (This is no lie!)
"I think he's a vampire!" I whispered, leaning towards Andrea.
"No, I think he's a werewolf!" she said, her eyes wide. First of all, you have to know Andrea. She's the one who wouldn't touch our class guinea pig because it had red eyes!
"Hey folks! My name is Chad!" the vampire guy said.
"And my name is Diana!" The Goth lady spoke right after him.
"We'll start your auditions today with a little exercise. Now, when I call on you, I want you to yell your name and age out as loud as you can!" said Chad, grinning at us.
"PATRICK THOMAS, THIRTEEN!" I yelled out when it was my turn. I loved acting, so I wanted a part in this play.
"ANDREA SANDERS, THIRTEEN!" she yelled.
"TAYLOR LIONS, TWELVE!" another girl yelled out.
We continued our auditions for another hour. After we had finished, we all anxiously awaited the results for what parts there would be. There were murmurs and whispering.
"Now, we shall call out the parts for Little Red Riding Hood!" Chad announced, still smiling.
"And the assistant directors are," Diana called out as everyone held their breath. "They are Patrick Thomas, Andrea Sanders, and Taylor Lions!"
"Ugh! I got assistant director again!" Andrea whined.
Andrea and I stood up, and we saw Taylor do the same. We got our parts for the play.
As the rest of the parts were announced, everyone got up to leave.
"Excuse me, but we need for Red Riding Hood, the Woodsman, Red's family, and the assistant directors to stay late so we can look over some parts." Chad shouted over the clamor of people.
"Oh great! Now we have to stay after hours with the vampire and his countess!" I rolled my eyes.
Chad waved his hand. "Would Red Riding Hood, the woodsman, and one assistant director come with me, please?" Taylor ended up going with Chad, while Andrea, Red's family, and I were stuck with Diana. I have no idea why Andrea and I had to stay afterwards, because all we did was eat and stare at the stupid dances the family had to do!
"Do you think they're going to try to kill us?" Andrea said, laughing.
"I don't know! Andrea. I want to suck your blood!" I added with a Transylvanian accent. We both laughed. We started making jokes about Chad and Diana. We had laughed so hard that Diana turned around, and stared at us.
"What's so funny?" she asked.
"Nothing," Andrea and I laughed.
Then, Diana made us work out a stupid dance for the family. When the practice time was coming to a close, I went out onto the balcony of our school. Andrea followed me.
"Diana doesn't know we snuck away!" she laughed. "Like, what if she comes out here and finds us, then bites our necks!" she laughed.
"I wouldn't doubt it!" I said, chuckling.
"We had better get inside, before she does come out!" she said.
We went inside, and it was time to go. I looked at my watch. It was ten past eight. "Whew! We were in there a long time!" I said.
My dad picked me up at the school doors. "See you tomorrow, Andrea!" I yelled out over the steady hum of my dad's diesel truck.
Day 2: Not much happened today. After school let out, I went straight into the auditorium to begin helping with play practice. I plopped down in a seat beside Andrea. She had her English book out. "Doing Mrs. Jones's homework?" I asked her, grabbing my own books.
"Yeah! We're not doing anything here!" she said, returning to her work.
Just then Diana called her. "Andrea, would you come act out as Red Riding Hood for a second?" Andrea sighed, putting down her books.
"Good luck!" I laughed at her.
She was asked to sing a part with the raccoons! After it was over, she sunk down into the seat next to me. "I have a beautiful voice!" she said. "Why couldn't I have been Red?"
"Well you didn't get the part!" I said laughing.
"Shut up!" she stuck her tongue out at me, childish-like. We were soon joined by Taylor.
"Hey," I waved a friendly hand at her.
"Hey!" she said, plopping down into a seat herself.
"Not much has happened with Count Chad and Countess Diana today!" Andrea said.
"I'm surprised they haven't bitten our necks yet!" I said, with a serious expression on my face.
"See, we think they are vampires!" Andrea said, laughing.
"Oh please! Whatever! That is just stupid," she said, rolling her eyes.
"I know!" I smiled back at her.
