Spirit of Fire

By: Neko-chan

Wings pump

and air howls.

A star-studded sky

above me.

Around me.

Below me.

Again, above me.

_In_ me.

Skies as star-studded as

my slitted pupils.

Stars as burning bright as

my fiery breath.

Higher.

Higher.

Higher.

Higher.

And down I plummet

to the ground so far below me.

Dropping so fast, so quickly,

like a stone.

Huge, leathery wings spread,

catching the wind like a net.

I skim the trees,

hearing plants bend at my passing.

I roar.

I cry.

I scream.

I am Night.

My wings

beat,

taking me further and further

from my warm cave.

I've never been

so far from home.

'Tis an adventure of sorts.

What will I find?

I yawn and

flames flicker to and fro.

I am majestic.

I am powerful.

I am Flame.

Wings beat,

wind howls,

star-studded sky circles

through me and in me.

I am Dragon.

I am Inferno.

I am Pyre.

I am Fyre.
