freedom

a/n: yet another poem. gotta have my freedom. and i'm typing without capitals because i feel like it. (i'm literate, damnit, i just don't like caps.) from a serious, critical point of view, the poem is sort of all over the place--jumping back and forth. but otherwise, i guess it's allright...

need my freedom
need to be released from these shackles of pain and regret
freed from anger, hate, destruction, and oppression
freedom's a cost dear to the heart most times, though
losing close people, close friends and family
but, sometimes, people don't let us be free
whether they mean it or not
shackled to the ground
chained from freedom
those chains can be opened, some hearts can be broken
but my freedom won't be taken away
if a loyalty to someone costs me my freedom
and thus, my happiness
it's time to break free
i won't be shackled, emotionally or physically
responsibility will always rest on your shoulders
you still have to have those boulders when free
but being free, you won't have regrets, you won't have emotional ties to what you don't want or need
i won't be oppressed
i won't be controlled
i'll do what i like
i'll speak how i please
i'll live my life my way
nobody can control me
and though time will take its toll on me
i'll still be free
though i love someone with my soul
i can't be with them and without my freedom
i won't be controlled
i'll be unshackled, unchained
my freedom is important to me
above peace, love, and popularity
my freedom is always more important
i won't be chained, shackled, controlled,
because the soul must be free...
whatever the cost
