The Pillars

there is a tiny crack

so little,

you probably couldn't see it.

unless you knew it was there...

there's a place you can go, where

(they say) you could've sat for days and have it

feel like seconds.

where there used to be stones

that were the most magnificent architecture.

used to be.

but what did it used to be?

a shrine? a place there people

gathered to worship its beauty

and bow in awe of its grace?

was it a golden place, immortal,

to rival the cities of Ancient Rome?

or was it just a simple structure, but

full of life and love,

to come and feel at peace?

where you could feel the tranquility

of the cool stone?

but none of that matters,

anymore.

for now, there's a tiny crack

and that changes everything.

a holy place turns into a tainted place;

a shrine of people becomes a collector of

dust and insects.

and all it took was

one tiny crack

to make everything come

tumbling down.
