A kiss of rain
| for the boy from the tree |
It fell with the grace of birds in flight,
descending in my hair, skin, lips, eyes
A kiss so deep it drowned my soul
It gave me a cold, wet embrace
No other hold to comfort me
My rain, these kisses I ached for
Lift my face, wash away this sorrow
As I laugh and spin, dancing beneath unlit clouds,
our angels continue to cry
Move across the field of grief as thunder beckons
and lightning cracks open this solemn sky
and still, I dance
Even as my angel cries for my lost soul
Ghosts hang from the trees of my past
calling for me in dreams, despair in its hands
Rain invites this ache in my heart and claims it its own,
soothed underneath the cold flood of the sky's blood
A cold, wet, loving embrace
as angels cry because humanity forgets
its pain and loses its own compassion
People lose hope, a lot more die
and still
I dance, returning a kiss.
