Six Great Men

Six great men,

but now all are dead.

Thespis is the Father Actor,

People cheer and they want more.

He is THE Thespian,

not to be confused with a lesbian.

Aeschylus lets two people speak.

From this point on, none are meek.

His play speaks of an acquittal of a son,

With this, the family is done.

Sophocles develops characters and plot!

See? Oh, my! What a thought!

He wrote "Antigone"--A tragedy;

And shows that human emotion is not free.

Euripides brought forth pathos;

It is he that contributed the most.

"Medea" is a tale of revenge and hate,

Jason's own sons become the bait.

Aristophanes considered nothing sacred,

Not even those that are dead.

A skilled satirist was he,

shown in his best-known three.

Menander writes in a new style,

New Comedy changing all mile by mile.

Only one play has been preserved,

Was this truly deserved?

Remember my tale,

but do not bail.
