I watch the lights as they fly

carrying a silent prayer

on gentle wings that soar.

As the fire grows around

me, I feel a great calm.

It envelops my soul

and gives me peace to

touch me deep inside.

I sing and the fire

obeys me to form a

circle in the air. Before

me lay the people of the

world from which I came.

I can see everything about

them through this fire ring.

If only I could join them,

be one with them.  I have

been given a blessing and

a curse.  I am one with

the world yet kept separate

from human kind.  Had I

known that this would be

the price then I might not

have gone through with the

pact.  Yet to be in touch with

the world the way I am is

indescribable.  I call the wind to

my side as an elfin lord comes

to stand before me.  It is time

for the Gathering of the Surreal.

Time to decide what will happen

to those in my circle.  We decide

what is to come.  They do not like

what we do yet they do not realize

that what we do is done to help them.

Come said the elfin lord as he led

me away from my fire.  As I

walked my circle followed. Why

was I born to be this person? It

was so hard to understand that

I would be able to make a person’s

future a pleasant one or a

turbulent one.  Yet today it

would be hard.  These people

had been my friends before

the Gathering had decided

that I had to be the next to

carry on this role in life.  I

will have to determine how

the rest of their lives will be

led.  They do not know what

has happened to me yet they

still carry false hope that I

shall return to them.  I know

that I will never be to do that

for my own future has been

sealed to this world.  As I

think of these things my fire

circle burns brighter around me.

Could I hurt their future?  They loved

me.  I have arrived.  What shall I

do?  “What is your decision?  What

shall be done with the mortals,

Fate?”
