Time continued to pass, and centuries continued to change. Time became irrelevant in Heia Ru. The settlement grew and changed constantly. At first there was an abundance of new followers. But soon, numbers dwindled to around 150. At that time, Lua Inoz made a decision to limit the settlers. She mobilized the settlement, moving it even as they slept. She also began tests of initiation. The test was different for each person who entered, but all were difficult.
The level of difficulty placed on the followers caused not only a shortage of people, but also an increased average age. The task of finding Heia Ru at any given time became more difficult; therefore, children who set out didn't arrive until they were adults. But despite the challenges of joining Heia Ru, people constantly journeyed to find it.
The wanderers in the settlement had appointed tasks for each member. Some were guards, warriors, educators. Others were navigators and delegates. Two gates led into Heia Ru from each of the four directions. Each gate was guarded by three soldiers and a sniper/spy. The main island of Heia Ru was the major island where everything was to be found. Two smaller islands were used solely as training grounds. A fourth island was left unexplored and off limits. These were the instructions of Lua Inoz.
In the year 4193, the war seemed to become worse. At this time, Lua Inoz would move the settlement more often. She spent hours exploring each new area they came to. No one ever knew what she was searching for, not even her delegates Coe Uryi and Lea Ariz. But then, no one asked either. The three outer guards on the North side began to feel suspicious and questioned their leader's motives. Several people, including the outer spy who worked with them, Sabre Varjys, began to suspect the three men of plotting against Lua Inoz. But after a trial, no evidence was found and the three men continued to guard their gate. But Lua Inoz knew that Garhon Sinohl, Kelsir Abbadas, and Delador Bolsek would not keep the post for long.
Four short years later, on the third day of the fourth month, Lua Inoz suddenly jumped from her seat in the dining hall. She quickly sprinted to the control room of Heia- Ru. Those left in the hall had a mix of emotions. Most were in shock, some laughed, and a few were afraid. Not a soul knew what was going on. Lua Inoz never returned tot he dining hall that day. None of the wanderers saw her for the rest of the week. But they did see something that wasn't there before. It was a strange message carved into one of the walls. It said "Hivaren. Day 3 Month 4 Year 4197."
For the next six years, Lua Inoz kept mostly to herself. She moved the settlement more frequently than it had ever been moved. The three outer guards once again began insulting their leader, complaining that it was nearly impossible to find Heia Ru and that they would soon run out of members. But still, Lua Inoz said nothing.
The process of joining the settlement was never written down or broadcast. Each person wishing to join had to rely on their own intuition to tell them the way. They first had to fin the colony, which was difficult enough on its own. But once there, the gate could not be opened for them. There was a hidden entrance reserved for new wanderers. Many people had given up joining simply because they could not find the door.
On the third day of the fourth month, a remarkable thing happened. A six- year-old child walked into Heia Ru. Three people were present for this occasion: Lua Inoz, and her advisors Coe Uryi and Lea Ariz. The little girl looked at the three for a long time and then very clearly said, "I want to join Heia Ru. My name is Zyta Hivarenos."
What an ending! The third day of the fourth month again. And that little kid's name looks pretty similar to the name carved on the wall..... hmmmm..... and it's been six years since the carving.... the kid's six years old... hmmm..... Next time: I dunno yet.
