"Fear"

You shiver as my cold breath

conjures your hair to stand on end.

You tremble as I whisper

what your mind refuses to acknowledge.

I am the shadow gripping

your heart.

I am the darkness

consuming your soul.

I am fear and you cannot

escape my influence.

I'll visit you in a nightmare

and form fingers to brush across your cheek.

I'm embodied in many forms

and I look forward to your scream of surprise.

How will you know I'm coming?

The answer simply is. . .you won't.

Author's Note: Well, I thought in honor of Halloween I'd post this poem on that oh so fateful day. A poem entitled "Fear" is quite appropriate for even when Halloween is ended it will remain. *cue evil laughter* *thump. . .thump. . .thump* What is that sound you ask? It is simply the beating of you're my heart hoping that you'll review. . .or perhaps it is the sound of footsteps sneaking up behind you. *now admit you turned around* Anyway, thanks for reading please review.
