A/N- This entire thing was written during an incredibly boring English mod when I was supposed to
be listening to my teacher. And I was. Kind of. But I was also doing this. So here it is, a
tribute to the mysteries of life, depression, and truth, or maybe just the product of one lazy
period's boredom.

Awakened by the Moonlight

Now you've reached the other side
Wonder what you'll find?
Crucified again
Gone back to where you started
Made your way more carefully
Hand closer to the gun at your side.

Dreams were dusted
Ashes.
Yet you've picked up those ashes,
Hands full of dust
And you take them with you on your way.

Sometimes bit of them split through sweaty hands,
Split through your trembling grasp
Onto the cold wet ground
And your feet trample over them.
But you don't look down,
Don't look back.

If you fall, you get up quickly.
Look to the sun
Led to the light.
Ignore the moon
Calling you to come home.
Haunting its cries as it screams and dies.
It's never been as bright as the sun, anyway.

So the dust slips through your palms
And yet you continue, on and on,
Dust glittering there behind you,
Testifying to all that you've lost,
Glowing in the moonlight.

Your footsteps echo eerily
You trip and you fall
Get up quickly
Knees stinging and aching
From falling so many times before.
Clothes coated with ashes
From falling bathing in them.
So, then, you smell like-
BURNING.
Burn and burn
On and ON-

If you fall again
You know you won't get up.

You're a silhouette there
On the dim dusty plains
Spirit of the journey
God of the lost...
and never to be found.

You think you can make it?
I'll show you the truth,
Show you it all,
I know you
I love you
I AM you, you see
I'd show you the way
If there was a way to show.

But there's just dust,
glistening behind you,
Abandoned by the roadside,
Glittering, glittering, shining so bright
It's awakened there
Awakened by the moonlight.
