Farewell, My Love

Farewell my love who loves me not,

I’m leaving you today.

I gave to you my own true heart;

You threw my heart away.

I lent to you my deepest soul;

My soul you did not want.

I sent to you my purest love;

My love you chose to flaunt.

The kiss you pilfered from my lips

Meant not a thing to you.

The dreams that plagued me night and day

Were to the truth untrue.

With you, my love who loves me not,

I cannot deign to live;

Nor can my heart, my deepest soul,

My love, my dreams, forgive.
