Why did you run back
to make sure I was here?
After all I said, all I did
I made you draw tears.
All that you did,
all that you are.
You came running back to me
like a shining, bright star.
I told you to leave,
run away, go.
You did exactly that,
then ran back to where you call home:
"In your heart is where I belong.
It's where I carry my life's song.
So just, keep me here with you for all that you are,
I know you'll understand this, my baby, my shining star."
As you spoke those words to me
I realised what a fool I'd been.
Telling you to leave me
after your love was sent.
You opened up my heart
like a shining bright star
as I stood here in your embrace
your touch became so tame,
that I never understood
why I didn't think we could
make it through the days
of our downing praise.
What did you do to me
to make me see
what a fool I'd been
for almost taking you away from me?
Why did you run back
and shine on my life?
It was so fantastic
like my north star in the night.
When I found you
I knew I did so well.
We laughed, we smiled
it was love, I could tell.
Why did you come back to me
when I did so wrong?
Why do you insist
my heart is your song?
My shining star,
you're too good to me.
What did I do to deserve you;
somebody so sweet?
My breath of air,
where from did you come?
It must have been heaven
because you didn't let me say, "So long."
You're too good to me,
my shining star.
Kind of like an angel
but from heaven so far.
