I miss the winter
that I knew before.
The snow, the carols,
the wreaths on the doors.

I miss the winter
that I once was a part of.
Snow angels and cookies,
fires and fudge.

I miss the winter
that once before, I knew.
The people laughing and loving,
the neighbourhood in which I grew.

The snow kept falling
day to day,
but there always seemed to be
enough time to play.

School seemed to have
let out for weeks!
The snowmen competitions
never stopped until we couldn't see.

When the power let out
it was the most coziest time of all.
You could just stay there and snuggle up
with hot chocolate and the friends you'd called.

Ice skating in the park
with mittens all iced.
Your knees numb to the touch
and time slowed to night.

The feeling of coming home
after staying in the snow
was feeling warm and as if
your face could never stop it's glow.

Blushed cheeks,
numbed toes.
Sleighs glistening
and lights on all of the homes.
