Counting the Days

~ Chapter Seven~

Skye growled in anger as more shadowlike creatures began to form around him from nowhere. He faced his main enemy that was the leader of these shadow beings. The enemy leader just smirked evilly and retorted. " Well, then. Let's just see how dangerous you can get."

In a blink of an eye, the leader disappeared to appear, levitating above the air ten feet away, watching the fight begin. Enemy came from all sides. Eyeing his surroundings, he muttered, annoyed. " How bothersome." Closing his eyes, Skye muttered a spell and held out his sword. Fire erupted from it and spread, burning everything in it's path. Knowing he didn't have much time to waste, he levitated himself up to the air to to face the leader.

The shadows followed. However, the moment any of them touched him, they disappeared from the spell he had surrounded himself in. The leader took her spear and immediately thrust herself at Skye. Skye dodged just in time. Before he could get back on his stances however, a power blast came his way, which abruptly met his shield. Acting quickly, Skye gripped tightly unto his sword and before the leader had a chance to react, he created a power blast directed at the leader.

" Docter Waterson?.." Unbelief passed through Miori's eyes. She stepped forward. " No.." It couldn't be him. All the previous memories of the gentle kind Dr. Waterson came to her mind. " It's .. it's not true.. You're not Lecius! You're kind.. caring.."

A amused laughter came from the figure before Miori. " Yes. True. Who would ever suspect kind, caring Dr. Waterson to be the evil Lecius?" Looking at Miori with amused eyes that held a dangerous glint, he continued. " And it was damn hard keeping that kind of reputation when all I ever wanted was to strangle everyone on the spot."

A silent gasp escaped Miori's lips as she detected the coldness in Dr. Waterson's voice, she had never heard before. Suddenly, anger overtook her. Anger at the betrayal she felt now...

Juine pulling Miori back away from the enemy, stood in front of her and gripped his bloody staff tightly as he looked Lecius straightly in the eyes. " Lecius. This girl has nothing to do with this. The problem is between you and Skye and me. Not her. So send her back."

Dr. Waterson.. Lecius put on an amused smile. " Actually, she was involved in this a long time ago in some very unusual tie... However, she become involved in this more by a more interesting tie she shares with.. Skye." Juine eyed Lecius with confusion. " What.. are you saying?" Miori looked at Lecius for the answers, also confused. Long ago in an unusual tie?...

The enormous blast literally spread for more than fifty miles. Luckily, civilization wasn't around for another hundred miles. The leader unable to react to the blast got caught. Not giving a second to catch her breath, Skye came down upon her, pinning her down with his sword poised directly over her head.

" I'm asking you for the last time. Where is Lecius?" The leader, surprised by the powerful blast and suddenly fearful of the man in front of her, stuttered. " He's in the abandoned construction site, inside a abandoned building."

The sword came down and the leader winced and opened her eyes again when she saw the sword was pinned against the concrete ground, millimeters from her head.

Skye, using his sword as support, stood up and retrieved the sword back from the ground and began to walk off when...

" Why didn't you .. kill me?" The surprised confused voice of the enemy stuttered. " You're not my enemy right now. Lecius is. But if you cause any more problems for me next time, you won't be so lucky." Without wasting a second, he teleported out of the setting of broken conrete streets, leaving behind a stunned woman in her age of twenty.

" Miori Sukabe ... is the Power I've been searching for.." Juine's eyes widened while Miori was thrown into more confusion. " You.. don't mean .. she's.." Juine turned to Miori with a worried face. " How long.?." " It's been a few weeks. A couple of more minutes until the transfer fully takes place.." Miori just looked back cluelessly. " What.."

She was interupted as a part of the wall exploded and through the smoke, a familiar figure came through, seething in an aura of anger. " Lecius!"

Miori's eyes widened in joy. " Skye!" She ran toward him .. only to run smack into some unforseen invisible wall that divided the two apart. " Miori!" Juine rushed towards Miori in alarm.

Miori, rubbing her head grimaced. " There's some invisible glass wall there.." Feeling the "wall" with his own hands, Juine brows furrowed. " It's a Kase." " Kase?" Looking toward Miori, he nodded. " Yes. A kase is some type of barrier cage that cannot be broken easily outside and prevents the ones inside it from using any magically abilities."

Outside the Kase, Skye and Lecius stood. Skye spoke calmly. " Release Juine and Miori. They have nothing to do with this. This is a fight between me and you, Lecius."

Lecius shook his head. " Juine I could release.. but why waste a soul.. but Miori on the other hand, I can't realease." Skye narrowed his eyes that were now the color of icy blue. " Besides, instead of this useless talk, let's battle. I've been wanting to taste victory after the incident we had back at Mepnis. Let's see how truly "invincible" you are, SKYE JIED LUIGEN!!!"

Lecius came down upon Skye strongly and Skye was even shocked himself at the unusual amount of strength. Recovering quickly, he strengthen his shield and swerved to the right, blocking his sword. A fiery battle had begun.

Lecius smiled crazily at Skye's power. " Amazing defense you have, Skye." Glaring at Lecius more, Skye pulled away his sword and came at Lecius as Lecius, himself, came at Skye. Both very powerful blows were both deflected by each other's, creating the unnatural disturbance of wind in the air that began to destroy that building.

Both fighter's skill were highly matched as both had very good defense and offense. The event of one hitting the other, only to be blocked repeated.

" One more minute to go.. " Skye's ear's perked up at the suddenly whisper of Lecius. " What?" ".. Before the power comes into my hand!" Lecius looked hungrily at Miori. And Skye looked at Miori, confused. Then back at Lecius and Miori again. His eyes widened. " You don't mean.."

He was interupted at a scream pierced the atmosphere.

Miori dropped to her knees, suddenly feeling a growing pain inside of her. She didn't notice that she was surrounded by an unatural glow of gold as she winced and screamed at the pain.

Inside, she felt as if "life" was being sucked out of her. Trying with all her might, she tried to block the pain.. but it continued to burrow deeper, seeking every last drop of her life force.

Looking out through narrowed eyes, she noticed the golden glow that surrounded her slowly being absorbed by Lecius.

He now lives off of people's souls. Basically, the more soul he captures, the more powerful and unstoppable he becomes

Juine's words echoed in her mind.. Is. .. Is my soul being taken right now too?... Her eyes widened. But then.. if Lecius took her soul.. he would be a little bit more powerful than Skye! Even that little gap between their powers.. it would make Lecius truly unstoppable.

" NO!!!!" She wouldn't let that happen. She wouldn't let Skye die!! Clenching her eyes tight, she focused what was going inside. "Holding" tight unto the "pain" that was burrowing through her, she tried to stop it from taking her life source. Instead she direct her life elsewhere. Anywhere but to the "pain"..

Meanwhile, on the outside, everyone was stunned as the golden link between Lecius and Miori was disconnected and the life began to fill up the Kase that Juine and Miori was trapped inside. In a moment, the overflowance of the power of Miori's "life" was too much for the barrier to handle as suddenly it began to crack. The crack increased and in moments the cage they were in shattered into a million pieces.

Miori felt her life run out. But she kept hold on the "pain" until there was only a few drops of life within her.

The kneeling Miori slowly fell forward, to be quickly caught by Juine. Miori's breathing was irregular as she gasped for breath. Both Skye's and Juine's eyes widened. " Miori! Please. Hold on. I'll try a recovery spell."

Meanwhile, Skye was frozen. Drops of bloods and scratches and cuts she got from the shattered glasses passes through his vision. Blue eyes dilated and narrowed even more.

He glared furiously at Lecius, who was glaring at limp form of Miori. " You bitch! How dare you prevent me and waste more than half of your powers on your surrounding!! You're lucky I got more than half of your soul or I would have instantly severed your head from your body."

Noticing Skye, he turned to him with a smirk. " Oops. I forgot she was your girlfriend." Skye now boiling in rage, clenched tightly unto his sword. His anger made everything around him levitate with static making Skye seem more dangerous.

Lecius, all powered up, just smirked and lunged at Skye. Skye blocked and created a devastating power blast that caught lecius and made him crash into the floor making a hole.

The building began to crumble and Juine taking Miori escaped outside. However, Skye , powering up his weapon,lunged at Lecius before Lecius could react and with his sword stabbed Lecius in the heart.

Lecius screamed bitterly. " Noo!How could I... HOW COULD I LOSE TO A CHILD?!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!..." His scream trailed off as his body began to disintegrate into many balls of glowing light.

The building fell and crumbled. Debris flew everywhere from the impact of the power. Juine helplessly looked twenty feet away for any sign of Skye. His eyes widened as he saw glowing balls of light emit from the debris... He softly muttered to himself in awe. " The souls..." One of the glowing ball speeded up to him. " Miori's soul..." Grabbing the light gently, he whispered a spell. " sijfe lsjem naiesu..." The glowing light formed into Miori's spirit form and slipped into her body.

Dark eyes fluttered open. " Jui .. ne?" " Miori!" A smile lit Juine's face. " You're okay!" Miori blushed as Juine hugged her tightly. Her eyes looked at the surrounding. " What happened? Did we win?." Juine nodded. " Yes. Skye managed to destroy Lecius." Miori looked around. " Where's Skye?" Juine eyes saddened as he looked at the ruins with hope. " He still hasn't come out yet..."

Miori quickly stood up and ran toward the fallen building. " Skye?! Skye?! Sk.." She trailed to a stop as she saw a figure coming out of the dust clouds of debris. Her tearful eyes widened as she gasped.

" Skye!" His whole body was cut and blood was spilled. At the shout of his name, Skye looked up and smiled at Miori. Miori was about to run to him when she noticed the glowing ball of light in Skye's hand.

Juine came up beside Miori and asked Skye, looking at the light. " Is... that.. hers?"

Skye looked at Juine with joyful eyes and nodded. " Yes. It's our Object of Importance.. Sieva.." Miori's ears perked up at the name. Of Importance?... Before she could question herself more, Skye chanted. "sijfe lsjem naiesu..." The ball of light formed into a girl around her age of thirteen. Her long transparant silky blonde hair flowed in the wind. Spotting Skye, she cried out in joy and ran to him and hugged him.

Miori froze.. Did.. Is that Skye's lover back home?... " I missed you so much Skye.. Brother.." Oh.. So she was just Skye's sister! She couldn't help but realease a breath of relief when she recognized that.

Juine stated. " If Sieva's soul is seperated from her body any much longer, she'll be weakened. I'm opening the gates now, Skye."

Skye came towards Miori. Miori suddenly realized the that this was the end. She smiled, trying to look brave. She started. " I guess this is the time to say goodbyes .." After all, she had expected this... However, fresh new tears came upon her eyes, betraying her feelings. Skye's just coming here to say goodbye and tell me to leave him alone and never talk to anyone about his realm...

Her sadden thoughts came to a stop as Skye came toward her and brought her into his strong embrace. He softly whispered. " I'm so sorry. You were the Power, the one being in the whole universe who has the strongest soul and I'm sorry I didn't realize Lecius slowly taking away your life energy.. I'm sorry I let you go near death... and" He hugged her tighter. " I'm sorry I couldn't protect you from him. I'm so sorry for being far away from you.. I didn't want to hurt you in any way and.. I'm so sorry." A whole batch of new hot tears came to her eyes from the sudden action. Her choked up voice tried to lighten the mood. " So I'm not going to die then.." The hug just tightened more. " No.. I pray you don't."

" Skye. The gate is opening.." Juine's urgent voice snapped both out of their embrace. Skye held Miori's hand. " Miori.. I just want to respond to the feelings you had for me.. I love you too.." Miori stood watching him with blurry eyes. A smile began to widen on her face. Holding his hand, Miori whispered. " Go. Your sister needs you.. But Skye?.. Promise me that you'll come back one day.. back here..Please?" Skye replied. " I promise.. and Miori.." " Hn?" " Just to let you know.. You're one girl I'll never ever regret meeting here."

Skye, with a smile, went through the gates and I watched him go with a smile of my own because I knew he would be back.. One day..

After he was gone, many things changed.

Nobody except me noticed the disappearance of the prescence of Dr. Waterson, Juine, or Skye. It's as if a memory spell had been placed on everyone except me in the whole world.

Seasons have passed and now.., it's has already been one year since that incident that have happened that changed me forever...

" Miori~ Are you going to be in the audition for the backstage dancing?" An eighteen years old Miori smiled brightly. "Are you kidding? Eriko? I wouldn't miss it for the world." Eriko smiled. " Well, I'll see you there then~" Miori just smiled and waved.

Miori had found a place in school. Walking through the streets, she looked up toward at the trees.. Skye..

Music echoed throughout the entire room and Miori gave it her best to dance. Without any sickness to make her mother prevent her from this dream anymore, she was able to get a dancing lesson. And this is where she stood now.

The judges slowly nodded their heads at Miori when she was done. " Miori Sukabe.. You're accepted.." A smile lit Miori's face as she stepped down from the stage.

Going to the dressing room, she was about to change when Eriko tapped her, her face blushing. " Hey. Miori. This ultra hot guy outside is waiting for you!" Miori pointed to herself and looked confused. " Me?" Eriko just nodded and pretended to be upset " Hey.. you already have a fan! How rude!" Miori just smiled and went outside, wondering who ¡®he' could be..

Outside the dressing room, many people passed by and right now the halls were crowded with passing people. Miori looked around and came to a stop as her eyes caught the familiar jet black hair and the ceruelean blue eyes. Tears sprang up to her eyes, as she stood, frozen.. Time froze as his eyes met hers. He smiled cockily. " Hey~"

With a cry of joy, Miori rushed forward through the crowd and spreading her arms wide hugged Skye. The two held each in the midst of the busy hallways as people passed by. Time had frozen for them and for the first time, they both had truly found what they were searching for.. Each other..

Ok. Before anyone complains to me or anything.. I'm sorry the fighting scenes totally were very sucky.. unfortunately I can't write very good fighting scenes^^;; Also I hope it ended well to everyone's liking~^^;; And I hope everyone understood what happened^^-
