My angel
In a blue baseball cap
I never got to tell you everything I was feeling
You never knew the difference you made
In the heart of a desolate girl
You stood there
Amidst the wind and rain
Seemingly daring the storm
To come anywhere near the two of us
Then you prayed such an honest prayer
And told me that I wasn't alone. Never alone.
All of a sudden I knew it was true
I felt God, and I felt you
And for once
I didn't have to try so desperately hard to be happy
Because I had my Heavenly Father
And a brother in Christ
And I was beloved
Not because I'm gorgeous, or talented, or funny
But because I am a precious child of God
Now whenever I see you
I pray that you know what you did for me
That the look in my eyes tells you,
"To others you may be many things.
But to me you will always be
My affirmation of faith.
My personal answer to prayer.
My angel."
