True Love Never Dies... Part II of II
By Patrick Gillespie

A hideous scream belted out from within her. It was all too much. After the last bit of air escaped her lungs she collapsed. It would be hours before she awoke. Little did she realize that what she had just seen was simply a figment of her imagination, her subconscious coming back to haunt her, to punish her for what she had done.

After a morning of shopping at the mall Carlos entered the house. He had purchased a few new CDs, and wanted to show them to Jennifer. He knew they would be just the thing to lift her spirits. After running around the house he finally found her collapsed on the floor of their bedroom. Confused and frightened, he shook her gently until she finally awoke.

"Jennifer baby, are you okay?" he frantically spit out, sounding quite concerned.

"Carlos, Carlos is that you? Oh Carlos, I just had the worst daydream, I dreamt, well, I..."

"Yes baby, what is it?"

Jennifer paused for a second thinking about what to say. "Carlos, I have something to tell you."

"Shoot baby,"

"Well, um, I... well, a long time ago you see, I… I… um, I-I love you," Jennifer said, holding back what she really wanted to say.

Carlos hugged her tight. "Oh, I knew you loved me! I've always loved you. True love never dies."

"What?" Jennifer said, her voice somewhat muffed by Carlos' chest.

"Oh baby, I knew it was meant to be, I've just been waiting for you to say it." Jennifer then felt Carlos's warm and tender hands transform into bony, decayed flesh. Jennifer looked up horrified. Starring back at her was the corpse of her former lover, the one she had killed ten years ago.

"We can finally be together now."

Michael's right hand then reached into his pocket and tightened around a knife. Wiping it out he swiftly slashed her throat. Still in shock, Jennifer reached up and tried to stop the bleeding, but it was too late. The wound was too deep. After about a minute, she went limp and fell lifelessly to the floor. Michael paused, and then looked down at her lovingly. "We can finally be together, forever and ever." He grabbed her by the forearms and began dragging her outside.

The wind continued to blow gently over the dusty ground, only slower now though, as if to say goodbye, as if to close a chapter. Its tail of truth love was now complete.

The End
