The Path

You break through--the barricade--
To the light outside only to find
You have to go--further--to have
What it is you are looking for--
The reason you left home--

A path lays before you--
No matter which way you turn
Along the way people tell you
There are other paths--
But you can't leave your own

Too far you've gone--so
You can't turn around
But you have the option to stop--
If you do you'll sit there--
While everyone else continues

You wish you could fly--
Then you could see where
Your path will take you
Or you can just--escape it--
While everyone else continues

But you can't--fly--no matter
How hard you wish--or try--
Paths will cross--and sometimes
You'll want someone else's--
But you can't leave your own

Those on the paths can't tell
You what happens when--
It all ends--But--it's not the end--
It's what happens on the way--
The reason you left home
