Author’s note: This is my FIRST attempt to make a novel. I made this when I was still in sixth grade so the grammar and plot are sort of ‘dense’. I tried to fix some of the errors, but then again, editing my own work is a dull work for me (unlike editing someone else’s work...) so please bear with me. This is not as good as Zero Dragon (my second Anime-RPG novel) but I hope you’ll like this. A MUST for those who loves romantic stories.

Here goes...

In the middle of the 20th century, the earth’s energy threatens its very existence. Ceres: an abandoned organization strikes back, plots revenge against the earth and worse – struggles to establish their own planet due to this formidable story. A planet where artificial life exists: dreamless and barren – planet without soul and choice of existence . . . indeed a world where technology is the considered the god. But in order to fulfill this, they need a great supply of planetary energy: and the only possible source is the earth’s own.

Vincent Schelewig: the son of the multi-billionaire president of the Global Defense Union (GLODEUN) gets hooked and found himself facing his destiny to stop the Ceresians from fulfilling their selfish and malevolent ambitions. Together with his other friends and their DNA-activated elemental centralization power, they must embark on a quest to save the earth, save humanity and face the story of their fate.

Year 2031

Global Defense Union Space Craft – ‘TERRAFLIGHT’

“All the energy of the shuttle weapons. . . ZERO!”, one of the soldiers said in panic looking up to the large screen of the control bridge. The screen was large and complete showing different angles and different locations in the galaxy. The blankness of space was bombarded by a series of explosions coming from all directions.

“Fuel tanks are leaking! We are slowly losing fuel!”

“We are out of missiles! Cannon carriers were already burned down! Sir, we are in critical condition!”

“We are damaged 87.98 percent straight on the main circuit! Auto-repair systems are also damaged!”, another soldier said, “Commander! If this lasts longer, the engines of our ship will surely overload and burn down and this ship will definitely . . .”

“ . . . I know . . .”, a 36-year old man stood on the captain’s deck. He was wearing a white military suit with a blue silken cape and a pair of epaulets on his shoulders. He was tall, broad, strong, and firm as he watched the ranging fire of war on the screen in front of him.

Behind the clash of different minogears (robots), another huge spacecraft stood. It was just as astounding as the GLODEUN’s (Global Defense Union) spacecraft – TERRAFLIGHT. The name ‘ROUEN’ was written on the wing of the ship in bold letters.

“Vherinaire Schelewig: the president of the world defense union. Looks like he can’t do anything else”, a man said with a grin. He was older than Vherinaire for some few years. He was wearing a green military suit with a cape and a pair of epaulets on his shoulders, “All messed up just like a little child.”

“But we can never be sure of their next move. Vherinaire is quite clever. He is a man of critical thinking. We must never underestimate him.”, a woman wearing the same uniform said. She was at her middle thirties. Pretty and seductive with her long black hair and striking purple eyes.

“Whatever happens, that leads them no chance on winning against our defenses. And they are totally hopeless. GLODEUN is nothing without Megagear ‘WAVELL’, Maria. Ceres has disposed the other GLODEUN megagears (mega-robots) too. Now, what is left is of them is their puny little spacecraft- the Terraflight. We have more minogears left and with this rate, it would be easy to take them down without their prime weapon. Everything is just because of fate. And those GLODEUN fools never faced fate. Ceres is going begin anew.”, the man said.

“Nelvesk . . .”, Maria whispered, “I hope what we’re doing is right . . .”

“ . . .”, Commander Nelvesk Beihron sat on the commander’s chair on the bridge holding a glass of champagne, “Cheers for our near victory . . .”

Inside ‘Terraflight’ – the spaceship of the GLODEUN (GLODEUN is the organization of the world for global defense.), the soldiers surrounded the man named Vherinaire Schelewig. He was the president of GLODEUN.

“Then commander . . .”, the soldiers looked at him.

‘Listen everyone. There is only one more chance left. We need not to waste lives for our own pride and dignity. We must live for others! For the children! For others! And because of that, we must do it.”, the man named Vherinaire Schelewig said.

“Commander Schelewig . . .”, the soldiers whispered.

“So . . . I’m giving you options. Those who want to fight, stay. Those who won’t . . . abandon the ship immediately.”, President Schelewig said.

“We are all with you till the end, commander!”, the soldiers said.

Vherinaire smiled, “Thank you.”

“Huh?”, a soldier looked at the monitor, “Look! A speeding mechanism is heading north! Its speed is 3km/sec! It is very fast sir!”

“Inconceivable! Detect it at once!”, Vherinaire commanded.

“Yes sir!”, the soldier responded. The cameras zoomed the flying object. Zoom at 25 . . . Zoom at 50 down to a hundred percent. All were shocked of what they saw.

“Sir! It is ‘Wavell’!”, the soldier said.

“What? ‘Wavell’?”, Vherinaire said in shock.

Wavell is a multi-powered robot also called a ‘megagear’ colored metallic gray that came from the world’s best and finest materials. It is also equipped with the most powerful earth weapons used mainly to defend the earth. It is the most powerful robot of planet earth and owned by the Schelewigs.

“But that is impossible!”, Vherinaire said.

The sliding door of the control room opened. A man at rush entered the room.

“Vherinaire! Vherinaire!”, a man also same as his age and uniform called him.

The man was Lincoln Renfrew. He is the Vice-President of the GLODEUN. He was another broad and firm gentleman at his thirties. He has dark blue hair and emerald green eyes wearing black-framed eyeglasses.

“What is it, Lincoln?”, Vherinaire asked.

“Vherinaire! This is terrible. A soldier broke in the gear hangar and piloted Wavell!”, Lincoln said.

“What!!!”, Vherinaire said, “Everyone! To your positions! Look for anyone of you who is missing!”

“Yes sir!”, the soldiers followed.

“How can that happen? How can that possibly happen? Renfrew, isn’t it that the hangar is sealed with the code that only you, me and . . . NO!”, Vherinaire shouted.

“Sir! Soldier Nicolai Cranmer isn’t on position sir!”, a soldier said.

“Nicolai! How can you do this!”, Vherinaire said as he ran towards the communication radios, “Nicolai! Nicolai! Can you hear me?”

On space, the speeding ‘Wavell’ dashed towards ‘Rouen’- the mother ship of Ceres under the command of Nelvesk Beihron.

“Yes sir, I hear you . . .”, a man answered.

The man was Nicolai Cranmer- one of the soldiers of GLODEUN. His eyes were sharp and determined; filled with perseverance and will. He was wearing the GLODEUN soldier uniform.

“Nicolai! What do you think you’re doing!”, Vherinaire asked.

“Commander . . . Your life is very important . . .”, Nicolai said, “that is why . . . you must live!”

“Nicolai! Wavell’s attack power, fuel and weapon powers aren’t in good condition! The repairs aren’t done yet!”, Vherinaire said.

“I . . . I have already repaired them myself.”, Nicolai said.

“But the damage can’t be repaired in such a short while!”, Vherinaire said, “Wavell can no longer be used in battle!”

“Wavell still has its last weapon . . .”, Nicolai said. He looked down to a red button located on the emergency panel.

“Nicolai! NO! You are not planning to . . .”, Vherinaire said.

“A group of lives is worthily. And . . .”, Nicolai paused, “by chance mine is not.”

“NICOLAI!!!”, Vherinaire shouted.

“Nicolai!!!”, all the soldiers shouted.

“I’m breaking communications now!”, Nicolai said, “And please commander . . . I left something on the hangar. Please . . . take care of him . . .”

“NICOLAIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”, Vherinaire shouted.

“Sir! Communication with ‘Wavell’ has been already cut down!”, the soldier said.

“TRY TO RECONNECT AT ONCE!”, Vherinaire said panic-struck.

“No use sir! There was no response!”

“DAMN IT! NICOLAI!”, Vherinaire held his head.

“Vherinaire . . .”, Lincoln looked at Vherinaire, “Nicolai . . .”

“Commander Nelvesk! ‘Wavell’ is incoming!”, a soldier boarded on ‘Rouen’ said.

“WHAT! And that Vherinaire still plans to kill himself! Set communications!”, Nelvesk said.

“No use sir! Communication has been cut down!”, the soldier said.

“Megagear Wavell is heading this direction! Set the cannons at once!”, Maria commanded.

“General, the cannons would still take three minutes to reload!”, the soldier said.

“WHAT!!! Set the homing missiles!”, Maria said.

“It is still no use, General! Wavell is heading here very fast!”, the soldier said.

“What is it planning to do?”, Nelvesk said as he stood up and shattered his champagne on the floor. “NO NOT THAT! He isn’t serious on doing that! Vherinaire won’t make a suicide attack!”

‘Wavell’ flew very fast towards the Rouen’s direction.

“HERE IT COMES!”, Nelvesk shouted.

“NO! NICOLAI!”, Vherinaire shouted.

“NICOLAI!”, Lincoln shouted.

“goodbye . . . commander . . .”, Nicolai said as he pushed the auto-destruct switch.

“NICOLAI! STOP!”, Vherinaire shouted.

The computer started counting.

“Auto-destruct systems engaged : five four three two . . .”

“Lorraine, wait for me . . . commander . . . please . . . take care of . . .”, Nicolai said.

ONE

And ‘Wavell’ exploded.

“NICOLAIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”, Vherinaire’s voice echoed in space.

And with the explosion were Nicolai Cranmer and the Rouen.

Vherinaire was very disappointed about what happened. Like what Nicolai said, alone he went to the hangar and see what is in there. He pressed the code on the gate and it opened. Darkness covered the hangar and silence surrounded the place. He walked inside. Giant robots were stored there. But one caught his attention. He heard something. He searched from where the sound came from. Then on the darkness, he lighted his tobacco lighter to gain some light. And he saw something.

A basket is placed under the minogear Nicolai uses. He went near it and into sight; a young baby boy was inside the basket with a note. Vherinaire read it.

“Commander, please take care of him.”

The Ceresian War ended.

There was no news from Ceres after the war. The earth won the battle.

With this, Vherinaire did Nicolai’s last words.
